Anson B. Nixon Park

Anson B. Nixon Park
Early October morning at the park.

Anson B. Nixon Park is a 106 acre recreational area in the Borough of Kennett Square and Kennett Township.

I have chosen it as my area of study because it is "my" park. A short drive or medium walk from our house the park is a place I have visited and been involved with since well before it became a park.

See more about my observations in the park on iNaturalist.

I'll eventually get around to posting more about its history.

The park is former waterworks and landfill site that was, for decades, one of those liminal spaces that no one cares about. A wasteland on the edge of town where the unscrupulous can (and did all too often) dump an old couch or pickup truck load of construction debris.

It is not at all extraordinary.

Chester County has many more picturesque, unspoiled, larger, natural lands to choose from, but none are more interesting.

The closer you look the more you see.
